First day it's been 65ºF in my area (this is my cutoff temp for bringing the group outside). Snapped some quick shots, nothing too great because I wanted the torts to enjoy the first time being outside this year without a camera in their faces. It's dry out here right now, so the torts look dry in the pictures. They got a nice long soak after coming inside two hours later.

Group shot (starting from the top and rotating clockwise: Mimosa, Coagi, Mandarin, Rafiki):

Rafiki is really starting to marbel:

Coagi has developed some very mild lumps over the winter. They're barely noticeable, but it drives me insane!

Mimosa:

Mandarin sporting all the new growth since being sick almost a year ago!

Like I said, not the best shots, but a quick update from us. Hope all you guys are still having as much fun as I am!

Thanks everyone! I apologize for my delayed response, I've been hunting turkeys hard (season opened Monday). So far, one Jake...the Tom's are acting very wary & quite after opening day...

Your Redfoots are beautiful, Chris. I know you have been waiting for nice weather. Hope it continues to warm up for you and the four little ones!
Those turkeys better lay low! :)

Thanks for the great pictures!

Thanks for the great pictures!

Two Jakes with one shot...ended the season without a Tom, but had loads of fun!

Thanks all for the compliments, I've passed them along to the crew!

They are looking great! Mine are finally getting to go out for the day, and coming in at night. I feel so bad for them, because they hate coming in each night and pace around the enclosure for an hour before going to sleep.

You are better off starting a new thread for this, but I will answer here.

You need to play it by ear. Your tort will let you know when enough is enough. How long they last on cooler days really depends on the size, not the age of the tort. They are a bit like batteries, they charge up in the heat of the sun or a lamp before they are active. If the ambient temperature is cooler, they run their battery down quickly. On warm days, they stay charged longer. Bigger torts stay warm for longer.

If your tort is enjoying basking in a sunny spot, or is active or feeding, leave him out. If he's cold to the touch and appears to have shut down for the night, it's time to come in.
