I've been here 21 years, and this is the first time I have seen one of these. This is a male Bluebill (Lesser Scaup)They're migrating now, and this one is probably coming from the Arctic, and stopped here to rest on his way to the eastern seaboard. These are big water diving ducks, and rarely will stop at a small pond. He was here all day yesterday, but was gone when I checked this AM.

OOps, forgot the pic.

Well, how strange. Don't they usually travel in flocks? But what a nice surprise for you! Are you a bird watcher?

I like to see the birds, but I'm not a "bird watcher". There's duck hunting going on all around, maybe that has something to do with the visitor. I only get a few ducks and geese a year here, so I'm happy to see 'em.
