Terrible looking male. Females don't look as bad. Thanks for sharing, still cool to see, just wish you could expect better from a zoo.

The male is 70, and entered captivity in 1962. He was transferred here from the Rotterdam Zoo, where he was apparently house with another, more dominant male, and never mated. The females are both in their teens and were raised wholly in captivity.

The London Zoo named Dirk for Dirk Diggler, Mark Wahlberg's character in Boogie Nights. Apparently once he had access to the ladies, he made up for lost time.

Aww I went to the zoo a couple of years ago and didn't see them, must of somehow missed out that section boooo. Thanks for sharing :)
