I have had my beautiful Horsefield tortoise for 5 years now. He/she is around 5-6 years old. Recently my tortoise (named Sheldon) has started to mount items and make squeaking noises, I’m guessing these are mating habits. We have been told that Sheldon is male (of course you can’t tell at a young age however). I haven’t seen his genitalia while this behaviour is being shown. Can anyone help me identify if Sheldon is male or female?

Thankyou! I was pretty certain he was a male from what I researched however my dad believes he is female. I also thought that age 5/6 is young for him to be showing mating behaviours? Is it normal at such a young age?
Yeah sometimes they display characteristics. But you can tell it’s male from that Huge tail.
