Does anyone know what age you can tell a red footed tortoises gender is? I am thinking of getting another red foot tortoise soon so I'd have 3 total so I should have pictures posted soon if I do get another. Will that be ok if I got another put in with my other tortoises? :)

Like most tortoises , sexing becomes more pronounced and more reliable as the animal matures. There is no “set time” to when you may accurately sex your animals. Some mature faster than others, experience in viewing 100’s of specimens’ from birth to adults and looking for tell-tell signs will help in a more accurate judgment call as well. Also side by side comparisons aid in determining the sex of the animal. For Redfoots I could safely say in the 5-7 year range , one should be able to determine pretty accurately the sex of their animal . But like mentioned above there many factors involved and with a young growing tort , physical features change rapidly as well .

You have a lot of great questions and most can be addressed by some sound research. Here are a couple of my favorite resources:
http://tortoiselibrary.com/
http://www.pingleton.com/redfoot/redfoots.htm

Generally speaking, at around 15 cm (6 inches) we can have a go at the sex of our redfoots using their tails and the angles and thickness of there anal scutes. It's not always easy and 15cm/6in is still subject to some guess work.

I'm not suggesting that you cease asking questions, but I am suggesting you explore at least one of those resources front to back.
