I bought my first tortoise back in October 2014. I think it's a Hermann's tortoise. Since then, it has doubled in weight, grown 4 cm longer and 3 cm wider. I named it goguma (고구마) which is korean for sweet potato.

Some interesting observations/notes so far:
It has not hibernated yet.
It is very active, scurrying back and forth, especially when someone is present.
Seems to be a voracious eater.
It nibbles on everything, fingers, sandals, tissue, anything that comes within range.
Its colors have become darker.
Cleaning the terrarium has become a daily job, usually twice a day, once in the morning after it does its business, and in the evening after the days activities and feeding.

Right now:
weight - 387.2 g
Shell length - 122mm, width - 91mm, height 66mm

a year or less old, photo taken not long after it was brought home. Just a baby.

A very recent photo. Color has started to show much more contrast.

Hello, Zack, and a very warm welcome to Tortoise Forum to you and goguma.
Lovely name for a beautiful tortoise.
It looks a bit dry in the enclosure, if you don't mind me saying, what's the humidity?
Have you had a look at http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/beginner-mistakes.45180/
and http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/sticky-hermanns-tortoise-care-sheet-updated.101410/ ?
All your observations seem perfectly normal.
I keep mine warm thought the winter and she has never hibernated yet.
Maybe this year, now she's older.

I did read through that list. Probably need to read it a couple more times because it has a lot of good information.
Humidity does fluctuate throughout the day, but humidity in the summer (in Korea) about 60-80%. But, after reading the care sheet, i bought a a spray bottle.
