Growth on tortoises eyes

Hello...about a month ago I rescued a redfooted tortoise. This tortoise was extremely dry. He had flakes all around his eyes as well as cracked dry blood around his mouth from lack of hydration. This tortoise has since developed almost like a growth around both eyes in the same spot. Has anyone else experienced this? In the picture look at the corner of his eye near his head. Thanks!

That's not a growth. It's the nictitating membrane or third eyelid. Soothing eye ointment will help it go down. It usually swells if the tortoise is stressed. It might be a slight infection. See if your vet will sell you a tube of this:

Hope the poor little chap gets better soon.
I thought I read this could be due to dehydration,as well as stress or infection. which would fit in with what you say.
I must try and get a tube of that stuff next time I go to Europe.
Just in case.
