Just checking back in showing my torts growth rate after having him about 5 months he’s already just at 6 inches so growing kinda fast lol will be constructing a big tortoise table in the basement soon and a summer outdoor pen when I can trust him to be alright outside most of the time during summer. Didn’t realize he would gain an inch and a half in five months

Hey everyone just an update he’s nearly 10 inches now at a little over 9. He’s not even 2 yet so he’s growing really fast!

Awesome! You should try increasing the humidity. Your Tortoise is Pyramiding.
Unfortunately I mist him daily and feed him a very broad and nutritious diet but I got him heavily pyramided as a hatchling cause he was discounted and it’s not as bad as it used to be. I was told if I keep up the treatment in a few years it won’t be noticeable.

That was him last summer they were more pointy there. But the two new hatchlings I got are pretty smooth.

I paid 2,000 for these ones cause I was a returning customer and bought two at once. I paid 1800 for my big one back when he was small. And I’ll have to make sure I keep his environment misted more often.

Wow, not just one but three Aldabras in Ohio. ! Is the plan to raise them there & eventually breed? Can’t imagine raising three here in Maryland where it’s a bit nicer weather wise. But in Ohio, colder too.

Do you have pictures of your set-up? Are you raising in enclosed enclosures? @Bee62 in Germany has a few as well. I think they came from the Seychelles too.

Yeah it’s a challenge at times because they live inside during the night and a good portion of the day to when nobody is around because I don’t trust someone or something to get them lol but ultimately in the next two or three years I will have an add on to the garage which is heated and this will also be heated. Just gotta figure out the UV light situation as I will probably need a lot and the electric bill is going to suck ha.
