Our Russian Tortoise, Hal, has been a part of our family for the past ten years. On Saturday, June 26th, I was giving Hal a soak and then an afternoon walking in our backyard m. Unfortunately, I got involved in a project when my husband Bob asked…”where’s Hal?” Hal was gone! The neighborhood all chipped in looking for Hal. The following day, I created a flyer and made 50 copies. My neighbor Cindy, who owns an Angora rabbit, and I walked the neighborhood to handout flyers. Hal did not turn up. Fifteen days later, we got a phone call from a neighbor Marsha, who lives 3/10’s of a mile away by car. She said I think I found Hal. Bob and I dropped everything and walked over to Marsha’s house. We saw four adults and a ore-school aged boy standing around the bucket. I met Marsha when I was handing out the flyers. As we looked in the bucket, it was Hal. We were ecstatic! Hal belongs to our 28 year old son Andrew who was camping in New Hampshire when we lost Hal. We had to break the news to him when he arrived home on Sunday, the 27th. 15 days later, Andrew and his girlfriend Maya were back in New Hampshire rock climbing and camping and when he arrived home on Sunday, 7/11, we had a wonderful surprise! Hal was home!
