Our 'big' little Marginated tortoise Buttercup turned 1 year old today! We don't celebrate tortoise birthdays... but I did trace around her shell in my tortoise notebook, and I weighed her: 138g, and 3.5" long!
She has grown 1inch and more than doubled her body weight in the 4.5 months since I got her. She is an eating machine!
Thanks to the high humidity (closed chamber+misting), her growth since she joined our family has been nice and smooth. I think by the time she reaches adult size, her minor pyramiding from her time before will barely be noticeable.
I recently read a German publication (peer-reviewed) that stated that a healthy weight range for a yearling Margie is 50g-150g, so ours is near the upper end of that.
Just out of curiosity: How big was your tortoise at 1 year old?
