Hi! This is for a friend of mine. He's not too savvy on Threads and the internet so I'm helping him out. And since I trust you guys I'll ask you first and get your opinion.

He is looking to spend $100-200 on a tortoise. But he wants something Hardy, not because he's going to treat it BAD but because it's hard for him to keep up the humidity and so redfoot is out of the question.

I suggested a Russian or a Greek.

Does anyone else have anything in mind or experience with others?

Eastern Hermann's, Dalmatian Hermann's, Ibera Greek & Russian tortoises are all equally as hardy and active given the correct care. But even they all require a moderate amount of average amibient humidity, at least 50% minimum with 55-70% being more ideal.

A nice captive bred Russian is one of the hardiest tortoises there is. Lately, I've been eyeballin' the Eastern Hermanns and they seem pretty similar to Russians in hardiness, but are much prettier, in my opinion.

Yeah can't go wrong with a Russian, Greek, hermans. They are all hardy and require similar care.
