Okay, so I rescued some eggs from a person's house a few weeks back. Didn't know what they were at the time, but they said they would crush them in case they were snakes, so I took them home to incubate.

All but one didn't make it, but last night, a baby box turtle finaly came out (took him 2 days). I know general box turtle care, but any advice ya'll can give me on how to set-up a hatchling would be MOST appreciated, since this a little new to me.

What temps are they comfortable at as hatchlings? I think I got the food covered (I know mostly inverts, like wormsa and pinhead crickets, etc.). He's on moist coconut husk fibers (bed-a-beast), a couple caves and a shsallow water bowl. How soon after hatching do they start eating? (not sure how long the yolk sac nourishes them).

Pics to come soon!

Make sure the inclusive is very humid and warm. During the day, The cool side should be about 75-80 and warm side at 85-90. It will be at least a couple of days until they start to eat.

It's not unusual for hatchlings to take a few weeks to start eating. Pill bugs and cut up worms seem to pique their interest early. A 10 gal aquarium is a great place to keep one or two for a year or so. Mine are most active at around 80 - 85.

The last pictures were taken on hatch date 8-6-13. The next one is 2 days after when he was nearly out (8-8-13).

Then when he was almost out, I put a quarter to show size.
