My Burmese Star's outdoor enclosure has wild Hawaiian Ti Plants (Cordyline fruticosa) that keep sprouting from the ground. They were planted before I purchased the home and I did remove them from the root, but they are like weeds and don't want to completely go away. My tortoise seems to love them, as I catch him eating them often. He doesn't seem to have any issues, but I did see at The Tortoise Table to feed Cordyline spp sparingly, as they do contain saponins. I don't know how I will ever eradicate this plant from his enclosure. Does anyone else have any experience with this type of plant? I do have other weeds growing that I hope he will prefer over the Ti plant.

I know nothing of this plant, but have you heard of a "hula hoe". That might get the job done.

Can you put a barricade around the plant base so he can't get to them and cut or pull any leaves hanging low that he could get. Then do a daily inspection and pull up any new shoots.
