Hello everyone. I adopted my tortoise Tako almost 5 years ago and he is an amazing pet.
Recently, I started noticing half of his head being darker almost black, but the other half is still tan, dark yellow. I am going to post a photo for your input. I am worried and unsure of what it could be. His lighting hasn’t changed or diet hasn’t changed so I’m not sure what could’ve caused it but my boyfriend seems to think he’s getting sunburnt? We recently changed his enclosure and so maybe the lamps are a little bit closer to the log? He’s still the same playful and moves super fast so he doesn’t show signs of being in pain or hurt. Hopefully someone could help us out, thank you in advance!

Could it be "sun burn" from a very hot overhead heat source.
