Hello there

My name is Abdullah and I 'm from Kuwait. Kuwait has One of the hottest climates on earth. Last summer the temperature reached more than 50 degrees Celsius. At winter it gets pretty cold but usually not below 5 degrees Celsius.

I've been referring to this website for information to help me take care of my tortoise and I've noticed that the exact opposite of some advice applies here due the weather and temperature difference, for example; the times at which people take their tortoises outdoor, and I couldn't resist to join the forum and share my experience !

I've never owned a tortoise before, but I had my nephew's Red Eared Slider Turtle under my care, after a year or so I couldn't keep it (I got married) since it needs its tank water to be changed frequently and other things and I had no enough time.

Now, a few years later, after heavens have blissed with a little daughter, I felt it's time to get a pet; a tortoise (much less messy than a turtles). I believe that having pets and animals around us can teach us humans many things, and fills our hearts with kindness and mercy.

Very happy to join and will do new posts soon.

Thank you everyone

Hey Abdullah! Welcome from Texas! Also gets warm here but not 50! Uggghhh! That's hot! I'm originally from Poland. Your English writing skills are admirable!

Hello and welcome.

My climate is not as hot as yours, but I have similar issues with heat during our summers. My preference is to have a big suitable enclosure inside, and another big suitable enclosure outside. On days with nice weather outside, I put them out. On days where the weather is too hot, too cold, too rainy, etc…, I just leave them inside.

Also, in a climate like yours, there is no substitute for underground retreats for a tortoise. Check these out:

Hello, and a very warm welcome to Tortoise Forum from (nearly as hot as Kuwait) Morocco.
i'm a little late, as not on here much these days, but please ask if you have any questions.
It's a likelihood that the problems you experience are similar to those we have here.
Good luck and Ramadan mubarek saeed.
