Hello! I just recently adopted my little Alfie, and was wondering if anyone could identify what gender Alfie is, and/or if you have any tips for me about rasing Alfie. I know it's really to identify the gender at this time, but do you have any guesses? The breeder said he's 90% sure it's a girl, but I still can't be sure. Here's a picalfie gender.jpg

Well I’m 50% sure it’s a male,
And
I’m 50% sure it’s a female
So my figurin ‘ gives a 100% chance to be one or the other and the best the breeder could give you was 90%. Lol. Just enjoy your tortoise. [emoji217]

Thanks so much guys. Do you know what humidity I need to keep the enclosure at? And what are the main causes of pyramiding, at first I heard it was diet, but now I am hearing the main factor is low humidity.

Keep it at 80% or above... and the main factor is humidity.. These people are experts and have much “real experience” to back up their knowledge. How is Alphie doing? He sure is a cutie! Welcome[emoji16]

I just guess. Mine is probably a female. but I call her a him because I named her saturn and i call all my animals a HE (excluding my dog)

I heard if the temperature they are hatched in is hotter it is a female. And my baby wasn't hatched in an incubator. It was hatched in a hot arizona heat. So depending on what yours is raised on could identify its gender.

Let's do the spur test : If the predominant spurs on the back legs are the same size - male. If one is larger than the other - female

The breeder said the incubator was the right temperature for a female, but he’s still not sure.
