Hello
I just picked up my baby Sulcata today , we both made it home safely and I got him tucked into his new home.

I wanted to introduce everyone to Ernesto!

Here are a few more pictures of Ernesto after I got him settled into his new enclosure .
I set up a 30gal tank with a layer of organic potting soil with a layer of Eco earth on top . I wet both down lightly by spraying distilled water. There's a few river rocks that I washed thoroughly , some living lettuce plants of he wants a snack and a hide a hut in the middle between the hot and cool zone .
I'm heating the tank with a heating pad from underneath and a 75w heat lamp and a UVB lamp ( both of which I am thinking of upgrading$$ )

Thank for welcoming me to the Fourm I'm looking forward to learning allot from everyone .
I've been posting from my phone using the app. I'm not sure why the photos are not uploading .

Over the past 24 hrs
I've gotten the heat zones dialed in .
Lil Ernesto has been eating regularly and napping in-between .
He has been walking around his environment and seems to enjoy exploring every corner .

I'm still not having any luck posting pics to the forum . If anyone uses Instagram ( brad4130 ) you can see pics of my lil guy up there .

Today he did something that pretty much gave me a heart attack .

In his tank I have one of the wooden hide a log thingy's from the pet store .
I watched him climb up it from the side digging in using all the strength his little legs could push and climbed up to the top.
Once he got up there he looked around a bit in amazement of the view then tried to figure out the best way down .
I watched him eye up the drop , get speed then go for it ! He jumped off the end head first into the substrate layer .
I nearly lost it " holy crap he's gonna break his neck "
After the landing lil Ernesto pop's his head up as if to say " it's all right , I'm OK !! "
Crazy lil Tortoise I thought to myself .

Here's a pic of the action !

He's very cute... the pic worked :)

As for face-planting, there are quite a lot of torts that do it. I think they like the adrenaline rush! :D

Thank you !!
I such a excited new parent .

As for taking the header, I think he was showing off for me lol
Yes he's very adventurous , there's a slanted rock in his tank that he's figured out how to belly slide down.
He seems to really like it :)
