I know this was a while ago, but as I'm looking at the first pic the hatchlings shell stands out to me. It doesn't look right at all. Does anyone else think so?

Yeah, unfortunately, but the carapce sticks out to me as wrong and I don't understand why. Something about it looks off.

The baby swelled inside it's shell. Maybe that's what you are seeing.

Could be. I like to look at old threads to see if there's any new issues or topics in general that I'm unfamiliar with. The shell looks very pale and a little translucent. So, I think you may be right about what I'm seeing. Threads like this makes my heart sad.
