I can only see one tiny little hookish thing is that a spur but theres nothing on the other side, does that mean its not a spur thigh?

He is an Algerian Testudo graeca graeca... they are lovely tortoises to own...

The spurs are on the tortoise itself and not on the shell. :) If you turn the tortoise over, the spurs are just to the left and right of the tail. Sometimes on male Algerians the spurs touch the anal scutes of the plastron (bottom shell) and get worn down, so can be hard to see.
Whether this tortoise has spurs or not (some spur-thighs don't have spurs) it is still a T.g.graeca. :)

Just the way they are...same reason Hermann's have the spiked tip on their tail.

Likely, in the distant past, it was an evolutionary advantage... :cool:
