I've been with my russian tortoise 15 years since I was like 10 years old and he was a baby, he has been very healthy but since he has awakaned from hibernation a month ago I have decided to let him roam from his enclosure of coconut soil to some rooms (with stone floor) for the first time ever but he rejects the enclosure in favor of the much bigger floor.
My problem is that the tortoise has started to urinate brown-red color and I am very worried about him, I don't know what can be. Apart from the color of the urine he seems very healthy, eats a lot, poos are normal, and seems as active as always. He gets lots of sun and uv light and his diet this month has been mostly of green beans, zucchini and lamb's lettuce (I think the last one is unusual in english countries)
Just today I have learned that tortoises shouldn't be in floors, is it really that bad for russian tortoises? Could that be the cause for his pee color? Could it be a kidney problem?
Attached files of the small one and the unusual pee (in this photo is completly dry, I will upload another photo tomorrow when he pees again)
