Hi All, Anybody able to help ID the gender and subspecies/species/geographic origin of my new Greek, Specks?:)

also looks like he/she has some old shell damage on the plastron and sides of the carapace, am I right not to worry about this if it seems stable and doesn't look red or inflamed around the margins of the cracks/scars?

Looks like a male about 6 years old, possibly a Testudo Greaca terrestris or a Testudo nebaluensis. Have you a pic of the head and tail please?

The first being from Spain and the second from morocco.

Thanx Yvonne,

he's kinda shy so I haven't been able to get a pic of the tail, but the cloacal opening is kind of far down the tail and longer/more key shaped than my female Red Eared Slider's...but the tail itself seems sort of short, but then again, this is compared to a RES ;)

I'm in the US, so I thought I'd read on here somewhere that T. nebaluensis were not common in the US market...but who knows, maybe I got lucky? :D

My guess would be middle eastern Greek, T. g. terrestris.
