In my outdoor pin for my sulcata there is a water bowl that's dug I to the ground but he won't use it. It's big enought to fit two mabey even three of him It but he refuses to use it. I take him to it several time a day so he knows it's there. What do I do!!!

Plus it's about 80-90 degrees everyday.

Can we see a pic? This might give us more insight.

Sometimes it helps to put them in the water and just let them climb out for several days in a row. This seems to convince them that it is not a bottomless pit somehow.

That is WAY too deep and way too big. If a tortoise doesn't feel comfortable with their water bowl they won't use it.

For about $2 you can get a terra cotta plant saucer from any hardware store. Sink that level with the substrate and put him in it every day for a few days. He'll just climb out but it will show him that its not so deep and steep sided now and eventually he will desensitize and get used to it.

That's no problem. Just soak him for 30-40 minutes every day, keep the ground a bit more damp than usual for added humidity (assuming its warm where you are), and he should be fine for a week with no water bowl.

Search your cupboards you might have a suitable lid you can use temporarily. My babies are very little but I showed them the lid and they use it frequently. Very shallow though, have to refill often.ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1403553404.675143.jpg

He gets soaked that long anyway so does the little one
