Lift your new friend up, Cacie, & look underneath. If there's a big scoop, then he's a male; if not, you have a female.

We have two huge, 200-pound-plus male Sulcatas that we rescued this summer. Their names are Thor & Buddy. Thor is very standoffish, but Buddy follows us around when we go into his pen, thus the name.

Sulcatas are huge diggers, especially the females! I've seen them tunnel more than 20 feet overnight in very hard soil, & they specialize in digging out of enclosures...probably how yours got loose.
