Just a little curious... How do hinge back tortoises lay eggs when their shell goes back underneath their behind?

Is it a Hinge? Can it move? (Sorry for the dumb question...) I don't know anything about them...

I think it may move, @2turtletom and @William Lee Kohler have breeding pairs, perhaps they know?
I think it may be either the hinge that flexes or the part of the plastron where the eggs are laid, I read somewhere that their eggs are large so it does help that their "shell can flex" what that means I'm not sure?

Not dumb, but I had to have some fun with you. It is a combination of things nature did, so they can relax a little and open up, while when threatened they clamp closed. Closest comparison I can give is kinda sorta like a box turtle.
