Thought I would share a pic of the new light stand I made for the salcatas I'm picking up tomorrow. I wanted to make sure I got my temps right, before I got them.ImageUploadedByTortForum1373152741.944051.jpg

The light stand looks good. It'll hold up nicely.

How have you decided to raise your sullies?

How many are you bringing home?

I will be leaving in half hour to go pick up two of them. My daughter is so excited. She woke up at 5:30 am. Lol
I'm trying to follow everything in Tom's post, as I found everyone here values his opinion..

I, too have followed Tom's high humidity way of raising a hatchling.

What type of cover will you be putting on your enclosure to keep humidity?

Glad you are excited about the torts! How many are you getting?

This is only a temporary set up till my tortoise house comes next Friday. Right now I have coco fibre and moss inside the hide so they can burrow in it..

As you may have seen mentioned quite a bit on the forums, sulcata a don't do we'll in pairs. I would strongly advise you to only get one. Also, it will outgrow that tortois hous quick, so start plans for a custom tortoise table soon.

0.1.0 Dachshund
0.0.1 Redfoot
1.0.0 Greek

Also, what type of lights are you using? It's going to be difficult to maintain 80degrees minimum with the top open and lights that high.

I appreciate your input. I have been doing a lot of research over the last 6 months. This is a temporary set up. And will be keeping a close eye on them. My temps are set according to Tom's thread. And have had no problem maintaining these temps. I realize I am new to the tortoise world. But have experience with reptiles over the last 6 years as I currently have 80 ball pythons which I breed. Importance of heating and lighting I am accustom to. Any tips are always welcome.
