Looks like Osteospermum (aka "African Daisy"). If you can post another pic when the flower opens that might help (or maybe google that name and see if that's it). I'm new to tortoise keeping, so I'm uncertain if it's edible or not :)

my african daisies are yellow and orange. never seen a purple one. I don't know what it is..

Do a GOOGLE image search for

Aster oblongifolius

and see if that matches your plant.

I'm pretty sure its the Osteospermum. That bloom should be open now and I'll get a pic to confirm it.

My plant toxicity list has a lot of gaps. Can you guys give me some links for other good sites for checking this? I haven't saved them in the past and now I can't remember them all. Anyone know if African Daisies are edible?
