Hi all.
Today I was having a conversation with a friend, and we came to the question of how pancakes pyramid. Being that they're so flat, I assume they'd pyramid "flatter", or show little bumpy-ness.

His idea was that they don't pyramid, but show poor husbandry in other ways more prominently, like MBD, or a concaved shell.

Thanks!
Tiffany.

I have a female that was raised too hot and dry, with poor husbandry. She was very pyramided and showed signs of MBD when I got her 2 years ago. I don't think she will ever reach the length of most adult females because all of her early growth was upward instead out outward.
This is when I got her. Approximately 5 months of age:

Here she is 8 months after I got her. All of her new growth came in smooth and much darker.

And now as a happy 2 and a half year old. :D

Any tortoise can pyramid if they're kept too dry and hot... they shouldn't if they have the right humidity and are kept well hydrated.
