I just adopted another tort today making 4 total.
A 12 y/o Sulcata, 12 y/o Russian, a Hermann's of unknown age and
today this tiny sweet 2 or 3 y/o Sulcata.
And I want more. I have the land and the indoor winter
facilities. They bring me so much joy. It's like life that usually goes
at the speed of sound just slows down. You calm down, slow down
and nothing else matters except to feel in awe and at ease watching
them graze and mozy around. :tort:

Would love to hear how many folks out there have and
would like to hear what folks thing about, How many is to many?

Too many is the amount you can't adequately love and care for! That depends on each different person.

I currently have a lovely Stinkpot turtle, and am soon getting a Greek Tort, during the coming week.

I have 2 young redfoots, I figure I have adequate yard space for about 10 adults to not bug each other
I'm still working to bridge that 2-10 gap, but my wife is making acquisitions quite a chore :D

4 Eastern Hermann's (mine) and 3 Ornate Boxies (my daughter's), so 7, in all.

Agree w/ Nixxy that too many is the amount you can't adequately love and care for.

The number doesn't matter. What matters is if you can take care of them the way they need to be cared for. If you have only one tortoise that lives in squalor and is not fed right, then "one" is too many for you.

I know people that have 100's. :)

Yvonne is right. It depends on how much time, interest, space and resources a person has.

I have two torts and three yellow bellies. As above, if I had more room I'd have LOADS :)

I have one male and one female steppe tortoise, each with its own pen. This is all I have room for now. Once I get a backyard, I will get more. :)

I have three Steppe tortoises, two babies and one adult. They all have separate indoor and outdoor enclosures. The babies outdoor enclosure right now is a small temporary one. We are in the process of building their permanent home. Hopefully it will be ready for them next week!

I have four leopard babies. I agree with the above...you should only have as many as you can provide all their needs.

I have one sulcata. I would love
More but I enjoy spoiling her and she probably wouldn't want to share her enclosure with a "friend".

Too many is having more than you can adequately care for. This means proper housing, vet care, feeding, lighting, etc.

I have 40 chelonians in all, including my Box turtles, DBT, Musk turtles, and Reeve's. The details on my torts are in my signature below ;)
