It just shows how important he thinks he is, this man will do anything to get your money. The key being your money not his.

I do not see it as any different than requesting that people donate to a specific charity in lieu of a gift, which is not uncommon.

It's fine when I say " you know instead of gifts why don't you make a donation to (X)" it is another thing when he says instead of buying you gifts this year donate to my campaign. Sorry I still see it as tacky and low class.

Didn't you know..........he has proclaimed himself KING!! We now have the legal honor of taking care of Obama's ilk with our salary and pension deductions we call taxes. It's amazing voters continue to support Obama under his Socialist ideas that are destroying America.
Don't get me started! David, you are stirring up a pot here.

Yes, we all have our views and are entitled to our opinions, which are better not discussed here. People feel very strongly about their political views. Let's talk Tortoises!

I totally agree. Otherwise it will get ugly.

Sorry, but you've probably already been marked for termination by one of Obama's kill squads.

Why would you donate to a campaign when you could donate to something meaningful like a good charity.

Who is to say that a political campaign isn't meaningful? If someone is truly passionate about the Democratic Party and believes that it is going to better society I do not see how it is even remotely unlike a charity.

I am not saying that I am in support of Obama, and I would point this out if say, Romney, had done it instead. It's just that there are a lot of seriously worse ways to spend money (we all know about the so called "charities" that steal peoples money and run) and it isn't as if someone is being forced to do this. It's just a suggestion. No reason for anyone to get fired up over it.

Period.

No, no, the health care decision isn't until tomorrow.

Super tacky, I agree, and I actually posted about this on my (private) facebook page the other day calling it "tacky" myself. If I was planning on attending a wedding and was asked instead to donate to any political campaign regardless of party, I would just pass on a gift or donation completely. I would imagine that the donations coming in this way are extremely low; certainly not worth the backlash that people of both parties are giving the whole idea. Besides the fact that I'm admittedly conservative (GASP!), I'm just blown away that any public figure would use this approach. If "my guy" did this, it would be a huge turn off.

My post was:
Yeah, I mean, why ask for furniture, kitchen pots and pans or just honeymoon money when you can encourage your wedding guests to donate to Obama instead of you?

:)
