My tort sunny is a hatchling/yearling, about 5 months old. He sleeps a lot, as hatchlings do, but he hasn't explored his habitat in a while. The food bowl is infront of his hide and I think that may be the reason why, any advice?20211028_085514.gif

Get more plants for s/him to hide under. Tortoise eggs are laid in places where there are lots of food plants growing that provide food, shade, and protection from birds flying overhead.

Really fill the habitat with leafy green stuff. @Markw84 has some great photos of his hatchling habitats.

This is my Vietnamese Leaf Turtle's nursery...s/he blends right in with the bark strips and old, dying leaves on the plants:

S/he's hard to find sometimes, but that's what nature has intended.

More plants, some strips of non-toxic natural tree bark (boiled to sterilize) may really make a big difference.
