ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1414501512.375102.jpg #2. Grows off trees in my side lot ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1414501578.608111.jpg # 3. This is not banana but leaves look similar

ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1414501649.346834.jpg #4. Weed.

ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1414501708.890540.jpg #5. Grows 6' tall very grass like. Just went to seed.

ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1414501804.109314.jpg #6. I believe this is a variety of elephant grass. About 6' tall. Leaves have an abrasive feel. Fed some to torts. They all ate it so it probably is elephant grass :) there are over 100 varieties. Many growing in Florida. Imported to feed cattle but getting invasive.

Thanks for any input you horticulturists can give
Mike

The first and second ones might be morning glories. Do you ever see a bloom?

The third one is either a banana tree or a bird of paradise.

Don't know the 4th, 5th or 6th ones.

Does #6 smell citrussy when pinched? (lemon grass??)

Thanks Yvonne.
I tried crushing up #6 but it just smells like grass to me. I'll have to have my GF try it. My old smeller is not what it used to be :)
Never seen flowers yet that I remember on the vines but I'll look out for them now.

I don't know the name of the fourth but I know people can cook it and it's edible.

For sure the vibe is Air Potatoe. I know the tubers that form above ground are toxic , but can't find any info on the leaves for torts. Anyone know ?
Thanks

I agree with CharlieM - a true yam, Dioscorea. Not edible.
The giant bird-of-paradise is not usually eaten (too tough), but is somewhat toxic.
I don't recognize the third thing.
Grass may be a Miscanthus. OK, but tough.
I don't know the next grass.
