I'm in the ukWhere are you based? (before we start suggesting stuff not available in your country!)
Thank youIn that case, I suggest you use a piece of the garden with a nice section of weedy lawn in it. Clover, dandelions, plantain... that sort of thing... all make good food. A bare earth section round the hide so he can dig will be good too. (Don't bother with daisies, they won't get eaten)
If you want to plant from seed, the Shelled Warriors shop has a good selection http://www.shelledwarriorsshop.co.uk/seeds---grow-your-owntortoise-food-1g---1kg-49-c.asp
It also has plug plants that you can use for more instant plants ... although I note they only have vetch plugs at the moment which Joe ignores in our lawn. http://www.shelledwarriorsshop.co.uk/plug-plants-46-c.asp
Tortoises, especially Russians, are surprisingly good at climbing and digging, so capped sides and defences against diggers will be necessary.
If you look in the enclosures forum, you will see plenty of ides for outdoor enclosure designs and materials
Hi guys, I am going to make spud an outdoor enclosure, hopefully at the weekend. What do you think will be best to make it out of and what plants should I plant/buy?
He will be spending nice day times out there from around 12:00 until it starts to cool.
All advise accepted, thanks View attachment 135037
