Thank you! I did have more fish but I made the mistake of buying a tiny hippo tang from Petco.. it had a disease which killed my fish. The only fish that survived was the orange clown in the picture. Right now as far as fish go I only have the orange clown, a black snowflake clown, and a green mandarin. New additions to come soon hopefully!
I was going through the different saltwater threads on here and saw people asking about nano tanks. They are considered more difficult than bigger tanks but I think the time and money is worth it! As long as you spend money on the right equipment (protein skimmer/lighting/etc.) these tanks can be easily maintained and become a beautiful edition to your pet collection!
I have never had time to start saltwater... well at least that's what I keep telling myself. I have a gorgeous freshwater planted tank, the guy at my local fish shop said that planted freshwater tanks can actually be more difficult to keep than saltwater, so maybe I need to come up with a different excuse to tell myself everytime I start itching for a saltwater addition!
Your tank is gorgeous, though! Sorry about your fish! Some of the prettiest coral tanks I've seen are completely covered in hard and soft corals, with only maybe one or two fish, so it's still nice looking
Haha! My bf was the same way, he always thought saltwater tanks were cool but never had one. He was worried about the horror stories of how hard they can be even though he too had a cool freshwater setup with plants and what not. I finally convinced him that for his birthday in January we should convert this freshwater tank (which he's had forever) into salt. He absolutely loves it and it gives us excuses to go check out all the cool saltwater fish at our local aquarium stores!
Fantastic tank. The corals are beautiful and deff thriving. I have a large marine tank and have only dabbled in small coral tanks. Too hard in the smaller tanks, so I gave up. I work at a fish store, so I get my coral fix that way instead. Much cheaper.
Nice looking tank. You don't do any SPS? I had an all SPS tank for 6 years, used to sell frags all the time, but now focus on my turtles and tortoises.
Love how the clown uses the mushroom as his anenome. I had a huge carpet anenome for my clowns. Awesome job
Thanks guys!
We plan to get some SPS corals now that we have a better light. (That is after we save up more money since I am buying an expensive tortoise next month) Before we had the Marineland "reef capable" LED fixture which obviously isn't strong enough for SPS corals... waste of money! haha But yea the clowns love our hairy mushrooms, and the black snowflake clown loves to hosts our blue duncan as well!
Very Cool Whit' ...Love the coral and invertebrate reef tanks … I myself used to have some SW tanks ….one just for sea horses … I used to hatch those out too! …
Although not a saltwater tank …. Check this groovy fish tank out …it hangs from the ceiling v^v^
JD~
whole ecosystem in one 20 gal.... the coral combinations are just amazing..... how did you manage to put all of that in a 20 gal??? such a masterpiece !!!!
Thanks everyone! And Jeff that hanging tank is super cool! I would be SO tempted to convert it to salt and throw some jelly fish in there!

To be honest I feel like most of our success has been pure luck! Although, we do put a lot of hard work and $$$ into it! My bf has always had freshwater fish tanks and this is his first salt. He makes sure the thing is always spotless! Plus we have a protein skimmer and phosphate reactor to help with that.
As far as corals go I don't know how we have half the stuff we do. I like crazy/ unique things and half of our tank is considered "expert only" corals. We have only had this tank a little over a year so we are by no means experts! haha In fact half of our corals and our anemone are NPS (non photosynthetic) which don't like/need light. We actually have to turn off the pumps and feed these corals by hand! But, our plan is to soon divide the tank into two separate ones so the corals that do need light will be separate from the ones who don't. We also plan to get more fish eventually but again me liking unique things we can't find half the fish we want at local fish stores so we have been holding out.
