I have no idea if this is even the proper spot for this post so if not, I apologize.

My question is, is it possible and okay, to incubate box turtle eggs and redfoot eggs in the same incubator?

Thanks,

ARKelly

P.S. I have not done it yet, but am wanting to be prepared. :)

I was under the impression that Boxie eggs required a lower temperature than Tortoise eggs.

I've hatched box turtle eggs anywhere from 82 to 90F with no problems. At 90F they come out in around 45 days. I don't do it high any more as I've never hatched out a male, at least with the 30 something I have kept back. Trying to hatch them lower now to get males. Hopefully I did it last year, but it'll be a year or 2 before I know.

I believe the crossover temperature for boxies is lower than the 86F for most other tortoises.

Yes it is :D Just have a hard time getting temperatures low enough. I was about 82F last year so I'm hoping for mostly males with last years hatchlings.

Hey, thanks Danny. That makes me feel better. :)

ED: I incubate my redfoot eggs between 83 and 84*F. Isn't that was boxies need also?

that's low on the RFs side and perfect for the Boxies.

I have never remembered the whole male and female thing based on temps. What would 84* produce for RF's and boxies?

What is the recommended temp for RF eggs?
