Is Hank a Sudanese or Mali sulcata?

I realised that Hank is more elongated than other sulcatas and isn’t as round as others. I wasn’t told by the breeder if he was a sudanese or Mali sulcata. Can you identify if he is or not? PS some of these photos are from last week when he was in his smaller enclosure.

There is no way to tell. The VAST majority are not Sudans. You will know if yours is a Sudan when it grows to 150 pounds and just keeps on growing. As large adults, the Sudans will also have a higher dome. This likely won't be noticeable until the tortoise reaches over 24 inches in length.

You can't compare his shape to your little Russian. They species look nothing alike.

You may wish to go back and read the posts on how to raise a healthy sulcata.

In case you are interested:
Your sulcata is starting to pyramid. Please review the correct conditions and correct now while it is easier to overcome what has started. A closed chamber with high humdiity is needed for raising a young tortoise.

Incase the Russian is yours too, he also is pyramiding and needs a closed chamber, high humidity and not shared with the sully. Not saying they are sharing, just an FYI.

Yep I have kind of replicated Tom’s enclosure for humidity. I have three of these high humidity enclosures. One for Boris my horsfield, one for Hank the Sulcata and one for my leopard tortoise who I have yet to name…..I need help with that.
