Is Mesh An Issue with UVB Output (Even if My Solar Meter Reads Appropriate Levels)?

I know this might seem a bit extra, but I know that some people claim that mesh below your lights is bad because it reduces UVB output anywhere from 20-50%.

I understand this and it's expected, but if I have a Solar Meter and if the levels are between 3-7 on the index scale for my Russian Tortoise, then it should be fine regardless, right?

Someone claimed that the UVB "isn't the same" when there is a mesh top but I don't know if I believe that. As long as the levels are reading fine on my Solar Meter, I would assume it's perfectly fine even if there is mesh in-between the light and tortoise?

I'm hoping someone can just confirm this as I'm about to drop some money on an Arcadia light setup and want to make sure I get the right one to go above the mesh in my enclosure.

Thanks!

A level of 3 or 4 on your meter is fine. Regardless of a screen etc.
Most screens do cut the UVB significantly. But in your case it's still good.
Great - that's what I figured. Thanks! I purposely got a very strong Arcadia T5 bulb to compensate for the mesh affecting some of the UVB.
