Many members have used the baby food carrots for soaking to get the vitamins.
Try it for sure it won't hurt.

I tried, i did everything they said on here, she just wouldnt.Hello I am in the UK in London . You really should have woken up your tortoise yourself between February and March at the latest and bathe her a lot . She probably has Eye damage now because she’s been hibernating for too long and very dehydrated. I suggest you get yourself some pet insurance ASAP . I use Exotics Direct. It costs very little to insure a tortoise in the uk. And then look online and try and get an exotics specialist. If you’re in London then please contact the Royal College of veterinary surgeons in Camden . Their exotic specialist is Jo Hedley. She has helped My tortoises .so much.but you need insurance. Please don’t delay as your poor tortoise obviously needs help. Good luck and please reply if you can .
Ah ok, might just look around for a good normal vet, thank you. There are lots of perfectly good vets that only know mammals.
But through pride or greed or whatever, they decide that a turtle or a tortoise is just a dog wearing a shell....and claim that they "do" tortoises.
An actual exotic pet vet is difficult to find.
But very much worth the drive when you need him or her. (In my case)
You might do better by just learning on this forum while you locate a real tort vet for later on.
East MidlandsHow is she now Erin? Where are you based in the UK?
Shes actually eating pretty good now, she misses the first few times but i was watching for a while and she ate all the food i put out for her. She seems to also see me when i walk up to the enclosure.East Midlands
That sounds interesting, definitely will tryYou can buy purée baby carrot food in shops. You can mix it with your tortoises soaking water, the tortoise can then soak in it an absorb nutrients from the carrots.
It works quite well with swollen eyes when they are caused through a vitamin A deficiency.
Thank you!And yes; you have a beautiful enclosure. Just lovely!
Its not that close to me, but maybe as a last resort[emoji23] She looks good, thanks.I also use a fantastic exotic vet in Suffolk. I’m not sure where you are based.
Her name is Catherine Thomas and she is excellent.
Her website is Suffolk Exotic Vets.
She has a significant amount of experience with tortoises and has operated on many.
Check her out.
Hi, there is a good tortoise club in Leics if you are anywhere near there - in Blaby.East Midlands
Yeah i have cuttle bone, i sprinkle her food with vitamin powder and calcium occasionally, i take her outside all the time. Im not sure what i could possibly be doing wrong really. Id hate to think i was doing something wrong[emoji17]Looks like a deficiencie .. dietary .. carrot soaks to start with.. are you supplementing with cuttle bone? Vitamin A ? Natural sunlight? I would seek out another vet and possibly have some blood work done.. your enclousure looks and sounds good Along with your food.. but something is missing.
Ooh yeah i live in Leicester, ill have a look, thanksHi, there is a good tortoise club in Leics if you are anywhere near there - in Blaby.
The British Association of Tortoise Keepers (BATK) is based in Leamington Spa.
If you google them they will have contact numbers if you need help from someone closer to you and they could probably recommend reptile vets in your area.
My sister lives in Leire and she told me about the club and found some information out from them for me when my tort adopted me.Ooh yeah i live in Leicester, ill have a look, thanks
Could you just blend carrots? Im quite environmental so i try to avoid plastic where possible[emoji23]This is the only carrot baby food I can food in our shops - Tesco stock it.
This link may help you find a vet, but I know the other organisations I mentioned list reptile vets on their websites too.
https://www.thetortoisetable.org.uk/tortoise-health/uk-vets/#.XSpYjOhKhnI They can't comment on how good the vets are but kay ve a starting point for you.
I think I would contact a tortoise club though as someone there may have had personal dealings with a good vet.
