Is Steve starting to pyramid?

Hello there! I was just wondering how his shell growth was looking and if he was looking healthy. He seems to have been doing really well and has a massive appetite all time of day. He is now 36g. I was just wondering if his shell is a bit flat and if he is starting to pyramid. His humidity is 80-85 percent 24 hours a day.

It does look like he has some starting. So slight though. Closed chamber, high humidity and no mercury vapor bulbs or spot basking bulbs.

Yep he has a closed chamber. He has doesn’t have any of those types of bulbs. I have only had him for two weeks so do you think that is from me or the breeder?

It looks like he experienced some dry conditions previously, but the newer growth looks like its coming in smooth.

Hi Tom. I just wanted to quickly share some recent photos Steve to kind of check in. He is coming up on a month with me. So far he has had 80-90 percent humidity everyday and night and I have been feeding him a ton of the weeds and flowers that have been coming out with the bettering temperatures. I found a post of someone who identified pyramiding and I checked Steve. He seems to have some small pyramiding but that definitely should progress anymore as he has very high humidity. These are some recent pictures of Steve that I took yesterday. He has a small jump on his first scute behind his head and I was just wondering if that was normal or pyramiding from the breeder. I looked at some older hermann tortoises and they all have this slight rounded scute behind their head so I think it is normal. I also attached some photo examples of full adult eastern hermanns tortoises with this strange thing with their marinated scutes being very pronounced and flat. How can I avoid this for Steve? Thanks.

Steve has no pyramiding. He looks great. The scute behind the head and everything else looks fantastic.
