Is this a bad sign or is it normal?

There is a white spot on his shell and I was wondering if I should be worried about it or not. Thanks!

I don't know what it could be.
It almost looks like some sort of crust or deposit?
Does it flake off if you scrape it with your fingernail?

Yeah it seems like if I scrape hard enough the shell will definitely flake off I did it a little bit, but stopped because I didn't want a piece to come off.

Greetings.

Was wondering how often you give your tort a nice warm water soak? Its’ shell just might be overly dry. A few extra soaks, maybe a nice soft brush scrub might make things all look better.

Good luck

Russian tortoises frequently are found with scraped, scuffed, bad-looking shells. In your tortoise's case, it doesn't look like anything to worry about. It's right at the spot on his shell that would hit something he's trying to get under.

I try to soak him once a week, but I will start soaking him more often. Thanks!

Okay, that makes me feel better. Thank you!
