Hi all.

I;m new to tortoise.

Basically i live in Malta, which is an island in the Mediterrean sea - relatively hot 30'C + humid climate 70% (beautiful weather)

I found this land turtle in the garden.

Is this a Golden greek turtle?
How will i know if it's male or female?
How will I know how old it is?

Malta is meant to be a very nice place, never been there myself though.I believe testudo hermanni hermanni and graeca ibera are native, but not sure. Unlikely you would find a golden greek there, you are a long way out of their range.

Well, I can answer your question, but that's about it. It's not what is normally called a "Golden Greek." They don't have the dark spots on the carapace (top shell).

Definitely not a golden greek. Can we have a plastron pic as I have about 3 different IDs running through my head?

I think it might be a female Horsfield tortoise? Testudo horsfieldii
due to plastron pattern?

No, its a Greek (I think), just not a Golden greek. And its way too young to tell the gender. Most baby tortoises have female characteristics until right before they reach breeding age.
