Is this considered new growth?

We've had Spike since October 24, 2017 and I'm wondering if his carapace is showing new growth. He was said to be roughly 2 months old when we bought him.

This was the first day we received him from Tortoise Supply:

And here he is at current times:

His carapace is looking gorgeous. The pale edges to the scutes are new growth. They’ll darken with age.

Weigh your tortoise on digital scales once a week (at roughly the same time of day each time for consistency) so you can monitor his growth.

Thanks for the comment! :)

I've been also keeping track of his weight since we first got him (at 26 grams) and he's been steady at 26 grams. I try not to fret when I don't see him gain weight every week, as I've read on this forum that weight gain for baby torts is slow and that every tortoise is different in their progress! The next weigh-in day is tomorrow, so I'll see if it's changed!

Sometimes they grow in spurts so you see nothing for ages

If he is bright eyes, active, eating and not losing weight there is little to worry about
