I've never seen shell rot on a star, but that just may be. It hard to tell with the pictures, when I try to zoom in it is out of focus. Whatever it is, it is not right and definitely not growth lines. Something is wrong. Can we get more pictures of all sides and of the head and limbs? Is the shell soft feeling? Can we get pictures of the enclosure and the type of heating and lighting you are using.

Your tortoise does not look well, so please reply with more information.

It does look like a fungus. Another member has pictures of a RF with it and that looks similar to what you have.
Use over the counter athletes foot cream on it daily, cleaning the area before applying.
Your temps seem to low for a basking temp. 95-100F for basking. Read the caresheet on this forum and make adjustments.

30-32 is good for a day time ambient, but you still need a basking area directly under a flood bulb of around 37C.

What substrate is the tortoise on and how wet is it?

Is the tortoise in a closed chamber or an open topped enclosure?

hi sorry for the late reply added photos of Unagi.

its in a closed enclosed, w zoomed reptibark substrate. I spray its once in while maybe 2-3 time where the torts are using a mist spray. its not really wet but they do like to borrow before. But currently using newspaper since giving it the athletes foot cream. threw out the old substrate for now and will use a new bag once they are healed.

added some more photos just worries the the white fungus marks are near where the arms area and leg area near the shell, not sure how to check if the skin has fungi already? sofar this is what i do.

1. morning feed
2. soak warm water 20-30min, pat dry
3. put betadine and wait to dry
4. put small amount of cream on earbuds and apply on plastron and shell where there is white marks.
5. bring them back in enclosure
6. change news paper daily

repeat the next day. i dont rinse of the meds anymore, is that okay? only when they soak then i rinse slowly is that okay? worried they might drink water that will mix w the meds?
should i adjust anything? worries that the plastron kinda change color from before, but not sure if due to betadine, sorry for bad crappy pics, i tried to focus but my phone cam wont zoom as much.

worried if the black skin is normal? tho when i got him, his skin is kinda blackish already?

ok got it, thanks zero
After 4 or 5 days of athletes foot cream the fungus is dead and your tortoise can resume his normal life.
The scarring will take many months to fade away.
This is a small RF tortoise will healing fungal injuries. The areas are hard. The fungus is dead. But it still looks abnormal.
Feel the areas with a fingernail. It should be like firm plastic. Not soft like cheese or a pencil eraser

I don't like the white "hide" box. Hides need to be dark. Just my contribution on the side. Love these little guys.
