It’s A’Tuins treat day today and we are trying him with carrots as well as his favourite, cucumber! Here he is munching away and looking cute as anything ?EF84B7EC-E596-4B2F-82BD-C18D7A9CCEF5.jpeg

The sandy substrate is likely to cause the death of your tortoise. You should switch that out ASAP.

I love the name of your tortoise and it’s a cutie. Totally agree that you need to get rid of the sand. Welcome to the forum and keep posting pictures that cute little baby you’ve got.

We were recommended it, it is a mixture of soil and sand, we spray it with water every day and previously we have had wood chips which we were told to switch, is there something better to switch to to keep him safe?
Thanks for the warning

I’m using a mix of coco noir, organic soil and cypress mulch.

You could just switch to plain coco coir or orchid bark.

Fine grade orchid bark will work best. Coco coir is safe, but messy for a larger Testudo. Cypress mulch can work if you can't find orchid bark. No soil, no shavings, no beech chips, no sand, no Pets at Home stuff, no peat moss of any kind.
