Hi all! Hope you're all well, and that it's nice and warm where you are, unless you like....cold weather. Here it's extremely cold, and pouring with rain. There's probably nothing I dislike more!
Hi Yvonne. This is something that very few people living in the West know about the climate here. Yes we do have VERY HOT Summer. However, this does not mean that it gets "warm" in Winter. It is..... DESERT climate, meaning one of two:Is this unusual weather for your neck of the woods, Gillian? I know you have extremely hot summers, but I'm not familiar with your winters.
Same as here.It is in the 40's here, which isn't bad. But a few days ago it was going down to 18 F...I like cold weather but 18 it too cold.
Here's a pic of Amman during the snow storm last year. Who would believe this?
No it isn't. At the same time, it snows here in Jordan (not only Amman) each and every year. Goodness...the snow storm last year kept us "imprisoned" for about ONE WEEK. We are not allowed to move, and in case of emergencies GOD forbid, one is to call JPD (Jordan Police Department). AND if you get caught outside, walking/driving.....you're in for real trouble and a penalty!! What do you think of that?Woah, but this is not the normal winter weather in Amman, is it?
The climate graphs that can be found online look quite different.
Are you another one who does not like Winter?Same as here.
I'm glad it's a warmer today, but it won't be for long, according to the weather forecast it's going down to 10F next week.
I think I'm going to hibernate till March...
That sounds like a great idea!Same as here.

Difficult to imagine for me... But the Near East is known to have quite strict (and not always comprehensible) laws.if you get caught outside, walking/driving.....you're in for real trouble and a penalty!! What do you think of that?
I'll just leave a note for my torts to wake me up at the beginning of spring...That sounds like a great idea!

What about homeless people? Of course I hope noone has to be outside without shelter during a snow storm, but where do they imprison them?
