Is this person in the tropics, as the name suggests? I'm wondering how it will fare here with our colder winter nights.

The pics for Abelmochus manihot that I find in a search look quite different than the pics on his blog. Some of the internet pics look like the African Hibiscus that I grow.

I read that they are high in protein. Are they safe as an occasional treat for my sulcata?

I know they won't survive my winters. My plan if I can get a cutting is to start off inside, transplant outside in summer and then bring it back in for winter or start another cutting off my own plant.
