Dear Angie,

How are you feeling today? I'm glad Zola and Richard are looking after you. Southend pier has a train and I remember a special train ride in Devon. I think it was when we were on holiday in Honiton, Devon and I remember seeing buzzards. I think to see the proper countryside it best to go anywhere by train of course dad we had to encourage dad to do this. I used to love catching the train to see my friend in Edinburgh because it goes right by the sea after leaving Newcastle. I also remember getting the train whilst I was on holiday in Austria and also in Crete.

Goodnight everyone

I agree Natrah that’s why I like the slower steam trains plus the phut phut as they come towards a station. I actually don’t like the smell much though but you only get that sooty smell outside or on windy days if you have tge window open on the train. It’s all part of the experience.
I do drive but I’m quite happy being a passenger so I can look around. As long as I’m sitting at the front of the car I’m fine. If I have to sit in the back I still get car sick the bane of my life as a child. I was always sick on car journeys & coaches. Trains were ok as long as I wasn’t going backwards. I dont get this on the steam train.

Dear Natrah - it has been quite windy today, but sunny, and not very cold, so my Dad was able to take me for a walk
on the breakwater again, which was fun. I was cross yesterday when I didn't go there. When we got home, my dad lit the fire, and I lay on top of my mum's chest while she stroked me by the fire. It was lovely for us both - I pressed my head against her face, and I think we both nearly went to sleep. Then my dad came in to take me back to my room, as supper was ready. I shall be able to sit on her lap in a few minutes while we watch tv.
I hope you had a good day . Love to you, Natrah, Jacky and Angel Daisy, and all my friends from Zola xxxxx and Angie xxxxx

Dear Angie, Sue and CathieG,

When the train went along by the sea on the way to Edinburgh I used to imagine seeing a whale so I would like to imagine the sealife on one of Zola's walks. Another favourite form of transport is by boat and in Malaysia we used to take the boat to the Butik Island in Sabah East Malaysia (North Borneo) and when we first saw it's white beach with clear water mum said "this is paradise". Here we have the boat from the end of the pier and also from Tilbury Docks to Gravesend.

Anyway Jacky is in bed but she is mystified because when I got back from teaching she was in the corner of the bathroom but I wondered how the plant food bottle managed to knock itself over! She hasn't done much or eaten anything.

Goodnight everyone

Dear Jacky,
You need to try and behave yourself. You could have gotten bonked on your little darling head. Eat something. I guess you did something at least. That's orders from Mommy dearest.

Dear Zola, Dickie, Sherman and Sapphire,

How are you all? Zola we were wondering whether your mum feels any steadier? Dickie have you stopped eating altogether? After four days of not eating I had some kale after my soak. I then did some basking before brushing the bathroom floor and kicking that irritating plant food bottle😡. Natrah then came back and put me back outside where I climbed on the rockery.

Sherman do you slow down at all and will you be doing anything on Halloween? Sapphire do you still go outside? Natrah went out to lunch yesterday and today. Yesterday she looked round some shops in the hope of finding a tortoise ornament like mine as another memorial for my beloved partner Daisy but she couldn't find one. Today she had lunch at the Cliffs Pavilion and once the saw the Paddlesteamer the Waverley heading back to London.

It was Natrah's younger nephew's 16th birthday yesterday and she got to wish him a happy birthday. Tomorrow it is her elder nephew's 18th birthday and she hopes to do the same for him. Unfortunately they live a long way away and we haven't seen them for two years.

Dear Jacky - I'm glad you are getting some exercise sorting out the bathroom still - I didn't get a walk today, as it was raining, but maybe I will tomorrow. My mum says my nails are getting worn down with all the breakwater walking - still, when it gets colder, I won't want to do it anyway.
She says thanks for the reminder about Halloween, as I usually have some special photos then.
Lots of love to you, Natrah and Angel Daisy and all my friends

Dear Natrah,
I've been really happy. Sapphire and I have been having a good time together the past two days. It's warmed up nicely in the backyard enclosure and Sapphire gets to go outback. He's always so happy and doesn't mind too much that I'm carrying him.

Dickie is still coming out but barely eating anything. Pete said last year 2 weeks on she started hibernating so we‘ll see what happens this year. Again she was out in the rain today!
Sherman does sometimes go out in the cold but only briefly. He also slows down & prefers his cosy shed.
I think I could hibernate over winter too!

Dear Dickie, Sherman, Sapphire and Zola,

I didn't really eat today but I did take a short stroll around the garden and the rockery. I also tried to wedge myself between the bin and the wall but other than that I didn't do much. Sapphire sounds like he's been busy though and I bet Razberri doesn't like being picked up. I do like a good shell and head rub though.

Jacky, Angel Daisy and Natrah

PS: We had a lovely WhatsApp message from Natrah's nephew who turned 18 today. When he was a baby he called us "torshees!"

Hello Natrah - today my mum and dad decided to go to get my next lot of radicciho - it's a long way, but a very pretty road - it took about 3 hours altogether - I had a big wee before we set out,by the car, and I sat on my mum's lap all the way and was very good. When we got back, there had been a power cut, which meant a lot of things needed re-setting - and then the water suddenly stopped coming out of the taps. Eventually we found out that there was a big fire somewhere in the area, and the firemen had diverted all the water from the village to fight it. That has just come on again - we don't know where the fire was.So my mum and dad were relieved the water was back, but had been given no information about what was going on, and were a bit fed up altogether !!!
I hope you have had a good day - lots of love to you and Jacky and Angel Daisy and all my friends from Zola (and Angie) xxxx

Dear Zola,

We're very pleased to hear from you as we're concerned about Angie's wobbliness. We're glad that you've got your Radicchio but do you still eat kale? I haven't eaten since and can't imagine why Natrah won't let me scale the garden wall. I'm sorry that you were without bug do you know much about the fire. We know that there was a lightning strike in Oxford but we are relieved that no one was hurt.

Dear Sue,

Natrah says she feels like hibernating in winter. It was her elder nephew's birthday yesterday and she had a lovely message from him.

Dear CathieG,

How are Sapphire, Dilly and Razberri? Is Sapphire still going outside and what about Dilly and Razberri's teeth?

Goodnight everyone

Jacky, Angel Daisy and Natrah

Dear Natrah,
The weather man says we have around 3 days left for a bit of warm weather and then it'll turn colder. But knowing my area Sapphire will get to go outside even more days for a bit. The more the merrier. Razberri and Dilly haven't been to the vet yet for their checkup. I need to get that done. I may even do that early. This is the beginning of the 5th month and the vet said 6 months. So an appointment is in order. They'll get them in soon after I call. My vets have taken care of both since they were babies. Razberri is around 7 years and Dilly is about 14.

Dear Jacky - I had a lovely time earlier this evening, as my mum sat by the fire and I lay on her chest and she stroked me with both hands at once, for a very long time. I stayed fairly still, and we both watched the fire - it was very peaceful for us both.
Yesterday our water was cut off for several hours, as there was a big fire and the firemen needed the water - then it went off again this morning, but we had a phone message this time, that said they needed more water to damp it down properly. So I think it might have been a hay store or something like that. I hope it's over now - my mum has a lot of washing to do !
It is nice of you and Natrah to worry about my mum's wobblyness - she has managed not to have an actual fall for several months now, and she has been put on a waiting list for a Falls Clinic, but that will probably months and months away. My dad is very good at watching out for her, and stopping her carrying things - she never carries me now, just in case !!
I hope you and your mum have a good night - love to you both, to Angel Daisy and all my friends

Hello Natrah - it has been warmer today, and I was able to have my walk on the breakwater again. I was quite tired whenI got home, but I managed to eat quite a bit before I went under my lamp to have a nice sleep. I hope you are having a nice evening - love to you, Jacky and Angel Daisy from Zola xxxxxx

Good evening Zola, Ernie, Sapphire, Dickie and Sherman,

I am just letting you know that gradually stopping eating. This is what I've done so far last Wednesday I had a bit of lunch and on Sunday I also had a bit of lunch. I have been greens, lettuce and kale and I haven't touched it. I can't imagine why Natrah thinks otherwise just because she found blades of grass in my mouth after all it's not as though I've been eating 😉!
