January Tortoise?

A lovely picture of a tortoise is now displayed in my kitchen, my old puppy calendar having run out of days. But I find myself wondering: Who is it? What species, where does he/she live, and what is his/her name? Please tell, and I'll hand write the caption in its place.

Far as I'm concerned, that's the only thing wrong with our calendar. It should have captions with that info on it.

I gave each of my kids a copy of the TFO calendar and they were SO impressed.

They wanted to know if the redfoots were poisonous because they were brightly coloured.

And they wanted to know the name of each tort.

We'll also pencil names in if we can get them. I think I recognized one or two from browsing.

Next year there should be a picture of Tom burrowing diving.

Someone out there knows who the tort is and where it lives and all the vital info that should have been included in the caption. If I don't get the real info really soon, I'm going to make up my own caption(s). The caption for my classroom calendar will be G-rated, and the tort will be named Muffy, and she will live in Topeka, KS. The caption on my home calendar may not get a G rating. So come on. TELL!

My first guess is...the January tort is NOT a Sulcata. Am I correct? I'm going from the yellow markings.

Thanks Yvonne and Marta! My calendar is now enhanced with the actual factuals of the January tort, and I won't worry about February until February!
