HI There,
I was wondering what is the best substrate for red foot tortoises
as I am planning on purchasing one for my Teenage daughter
please I live in Newcastle upon tyne united kingdom can anyone

Hard wood mulch, Cyprus mulch, coco chore all are good . Look up tortoise libary it will tell you everything you need to know .

Welcome, Joe. I have three RF tortoises and outdoors I use Garden soil and mulch. It is normally very humid and warm here and I have a misting system on a timer. (Currently turned off.) In doors, however, in a closed chamber, I use orchid bark. (Several inches) Covered with potting soil. You can pour water into the corners and the bark will absorb it, leaving the top layer of soil dry while giving a lot of humidity. You want a LOT of humidity. You do NOT want wet. Think warm (Around 80-85f) and humid (Between 70&90%+)
