Hi all I live in Cyprus in the Mediterranean. Have been keeping tortoises for about 12 years now. Tortoise are not native to Cyprus, but are found not to many miles away on the mainland of Greece and Turkey.
I have had two female tortoise for 12 years and this year was given one that somebody had found, which has turned out to be a male. We now have some babies as well.
Because of where we live by the coast it doesn’t get to cold, though it may be very wet at times in the winter. So unlike most keepers mine live outside all year round.
They have a big enclosed area, with a weather proof box for sleeping in and shade hides for the summer.
We are making another enclosure for the male for next year, so the girls can get some peace.
The babies have there own fully enclosed pen for now, to protect them from predators.
I just hope I can get them through the winter.
Thanks for reading will post photos soon. Julia
