OK, I admit I don't know what "GATAS" are...is that an acronym?

They are a very handsome set. :D

I don't know this species. I didn't know they were so light colored. Very attractive. So what is their personality like?

That's the ticket, Terra! Gata is short for elongata. Like the Forsten's, they are accused of being shy and wild caughts tend to be less than completely trusting at first. Those in my collection have tons of personality. I didn't use the moniker, The Three Stooges, for nothing... They are fast, far ranging and apt to get themselves in all sorts of predicaments - think athletic red foots.

These guys have a reduced pattern. The majority look much like Forsten's with dark blotches on the carapacial scutes but very little, if any, coloration on the head (a.k.a. White-headed Tortoise). Like Forsten's the area around their nares and eyes turns pinkish during breeding season.

Elongateds are awesome tortoises - I have a bunch and I get a kick out of them. Some of last year's babies:
